Sylvia Khatcherian has extensive experience advising on technology, IP, cybersecurity and privacy matters and structuring and negotiating complex commercial transactions.  She counsels on the development of policies and procedures for adoption and use of new technology capabilities, including AI, in a risk-managed and regulatory-compliant manner; holistic IP and information asset protection programs; cross-border transfers of data compliant with privacy, data protection and cyber security laws; cyber incident readiness and management/mitigation of legal, regulatory and reputational exposure; and structuring and negotiation of global arrangements for technology driven services and strategic partnerships.

Ms. Khatcherian’s experience includes leadership roles with global financial institutions, Morgan Stanley, American Express and Bridgewater Associates, as well as with a tech/AI start up, MiiM, Inc.

Most recently she served as General Counsel & Chief Administrative Officer at MiiM, advising on responsible development of offerings using AI in view of evolving regulatory guidance, and on licensing strategies.

As Deputy General Counsel at Bridgewater, Ms. Khatcherian lead the legal team providing firm-wide coverage of technology, information security, privacy, IP, and commercial transactions matters.

At Morgan Stanley, as Managing Director in the Legal and Compliance Division, she headed the global team overseeing Tech, Privacy, IP & E-Commerce matters firmwide, served as GC to the Global Tech & Data organization, as a member of the global Technology Governance Committee, and as Counsel to the Cybersecurity Program, Global Information Security Governance, Supplier Risk Governance, and Business Continuity Governance.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, she led the Technology Law Group at American Express, where she also served on the Technologies Executive Team, CIO’s management team leading technology services to support delivery of products/services.

Ms. Khatcherian started her career in private practice, and was a partner at Brown Raysman & Millstein, in New York.

She is active in the New York City Bar Association, where she has served as Chair of the Technology, Cyber and Privacy committee and is currently Co-Chair of its AI subcommittee, focusing on regulatory and legal developments globally and their implications for developers and users of AI enabled capabilities. She is also active in the International Bar Association, where she has served as the Chair of the IBA’s Legal Practice Division and Co-Chair of its Technology Committee, and continues to serve on IBA’s Constitution and Governance Committee.

She received the JD from New York University School of Law, and her A.B. magna cum laude, from Barnard College, Columbia University.
